First, Tom & Kim, thanks for the video seminar yesterday, even if it was a bit of a technological disaster area at times !
Second - the webinar was the most useful part of the whole process so far for me. I must admit that I still haven't got it everything totally straight in my head, but when I went to bed, this is the gist of what I wrote in my journal.
1. Anything worthwhile that you want to achieve/get/acquire WILL involve some "pain" (or "discomfort", "inconvenience" or "sacrifice" - whatever label you want to hang on it.)
2. If *I* want success, I am just going to have to deal with "pain".
I've said before that what Tom wrote elsewhere in this forum made a big impact on me. It was along the lines of:
Quote:
"Life is very simple if you do this. 1. Make a plan. 2. Carry it out it"
Doh ! Sounds simple, and of course "we all know this". But am I doing it, BOTH parts of it ? For some time passing, the answer for me is "no", largely because of the anticipation of pain. So I'm back to point 2 again: deal with it.
The Good News is this:
3. We get put off by the anticipation of pain but when we get to it, it's rarely as bad as we think it was going to be and in fact, may not actually be there at all.
AND
4. Some people handle it better than others - these tend to be the "successful" people - they think about it differently (see point 3). They see it as a necessary (natural ?) and passing part of the process of achieving. I should model myself on them.
Thanks again to T & K and to everybody else that contributed.
Roger
Post script: my biggest challenge about this now is the anger/guilt//loss that I feel for the time, energy and other resources that I have wasted before getting here. I think that's why I still feel as if I am not "totally straight" about this in my own mind.
Of course, self-pity is a pretty useless emotion, so that is something I will work on with 3DMind.

Good you work with that, it'll make the rest of your changes easier. So, you already know self-pitty is an emotion of yours, that is pretty useless and you can assume is a sympton and start with what kind of people is selfpitty?, if that doesn't work, then treat it like a driver, the thing is don't stop looking for it.
cheers,
Haz el bien sin mirar a quién.

Yeah, you're right. In fact, after thinking about what I wrote about guilt, I bet I know what Tom would say here ... something like "Make sure that it does not become another excuse not to do what you have decided on doing."
Well, that's my guess anyway.
It does feel bad, but it should not change what I do in the future. I guess I need to disconnect those two.

You are so right. Your excuses are shit. They pop out so effortlessly that I want to pop you on the head when I hear one?
So Roger I am going to turn up the heat on you.
What have you done TODAY towards your goal of a better life? Don't give me bullshit. Give be substance.

I have written to a guy that is interested in using my IT experience to tell him that I am interested in working for him. (Actually, I did it last night.)
Today, I wrote to a former colleague to set up a meeting later this week at which I will ask about work as well.

In general I handled the belief, I am weak, I am a bumbler. For doing tasks, I am Terrible and I am full of shit.
I've been running my life very well since then. I'm getting lots done and it's much easier for me. I'm just fitting things into my day to make it complete with very little wasted time and have the attitude now that it will all get handled. It's a determined and motivated feeling and knowing it will get done.
With women it was, I am pitiful! Nice...try taking that on when meeting someone new.
Now I'm just cool with myself and have been opening women and having a great time.
I'm fine with just offering up myself and see what happens. See what I'm working with. It's nothing on me, it's on them if something gets funky. Getting great reactions from all people.
Merry Christmas Everyone! If you're Jewish you can go ahead and wish me a Happy Chanukah and I wish it back!
Mike

Great job. It is nice to see someone really take the challenge and use it. In January I think we will move the challenge to the next level.
have a safe New Year!
